Fishing Rod in the Mail? St. Croix Rod & Lures Unboxing (Not Sponsored)
In the first episode this week I got a new fishing Rod in the Mail! Realistic Fishing is NOT Sponsored and the St. Croix rod & lures in this unboxing were sent by subscribers. This is not a sponsored sales pitch. This week when I went to the post office to pick up the show’s mail I was pretty surprised to find a long tube. But I knew what was in there – a fishing rod! Not only was there the tube – I had a big pile of boxes and envelopes as well. It’s always fun unboxing the gear and the lures sent in to the show and I really do appreciate it. I received a really nice assortment of lures and gear this time and of course there was the beautiful St. Croix Rod. Big thanks to everyone who sends things in to the show and as always, Keep it Realistic.

Fishing with a $15 Lew’s Mach 2 – Winter Float Fishing with Worms
In the second episode this week, for the first time I’m fishing with a $15 Lew’s Mach 2. Winter float fishing with worms at “the log” seems to be the only way I can catch fish right now. The trout just aren’t biting and the water is too cold everywhere else around here. So – fishing with nightcrawlers it is. The Mach 2 rod casts well and I had no problems with this simple fishing method. I hope to catch a few crappie or trout on it in the future to give it a bit more of a workout. For only $15, I think it’s pretty nice and I’m glad I bought two of them. Eventually I’ll do more with the Lew’s rod but for now its doing well with some winter float fishing.

Crappie Fishing From the Bank with Gulp Minnows (Easy Float Fishing)
In the final episode this week, I’m crappie fishing from the bank with Gulp Minnows. Easy float fishing like this is simple enough for beginner fishermen to try. I’m using Gulp Minnows instead of nightcrawlers to reduce the number of 3 inch bluegill and hopefully increase the number of crappie I catch. Last time I was out there fishing with worms I didn’t catch a single crappie. This time after switching to the artificial minnows I’m able to catch a few including a black nosed crappie and a 9 incher! So if you want to try crappie fishing from the bank, consider trying Gulp Minnows, they can do the trick.
