Early Spring Fishing from the Bank – Fishing a Flooded Lake & Creek

Early Spring Fishing from the Bank Fishing a Flooded Lake Creek - Realistic Fishing

In the first video this week: As an angler, I’ve been taking advantage of the early spring weather to do some fishing from the bank. I’ve been exploring a few different spots along the flooded lake and creek, hoping to find some good catches. Unfortunately, my first spot got rained out, so I had to switch things up.

Thankfully I had some luck at Skeletor Park where I was able to reel in a nice skipjack using a jerkbait. After that, I decided to check out a flooded creek and opted to use a simple worm and float rig. My efforts paid off as I was able to catch a couple of decent-sized bluegills, as well as a few smaller fish.

Despite the season being very early, I noticed that the fish seemed to be moving towards the bank, even in the flooded areas. So try out my “desperate to catch a fish” rig and see if you can hook some fish during the early fishing season.

The Bass Are Coming! Early Spring Bass Fishing for Pre Spawn Bass

The Bass Are Coming Early Spring Bass Fishing for Pre Spawn Bass - Realistic Fishing

In the second episode this week: Get ready to sound the alarm because the bass are making their way towards the surface! However, early spring bass fishing for prespawn bass can be pretty challenging. To try and catch some bass, I experimented with a wacky rig and a jerkbait at two different spots.

As I set out early in the morning, the sky was a clear and blue. At Skeletor Park, I managed to hook a small bass using a jerkbait. However, as the day progressed, the sky turned overcast, and I had to switch things up at a new location. Although I initially got a bite on the wacky rig, I unfortunately lost the bass when it swam into a tree. I switched back to a minnow and kept trying.

Finally, after some persistence, I was able to catch another bass. It’s clear that the bass are starting to make their way towards the surface, so it’s the perfect time to try and catch an early spring prespawn bass. Keep at it!

How to Catch That First Bass of the Year! Bass Fishing Rigs for Spring

How to Catch That First Bass of the Year Bass Fishing Rigs for Spring - Realistic Fishing

In the final episode this week: Want to know how to catch that first bass of the year? These bass fishing rigs for spring might just do the trick. Today, I decided to experiment with a soft plastic stick worm in three different ways.

Initially, I caught a small bass using a gulp minnow. However, I wanted to aim for larger bass, so I switched things up to a wacky rig and I was able to hook my first decent-sized bass of the year. After some success, I tried a jig head wacky rig next and was able to reel in yet another bass.

Wanting to test out another rig, I decided to switch things up again and tried a weightless Texas Rig. My efforts paid off once again, as I was able to catch yet another bass. With the bass moving towards the surface, now is a great time to try and catch your first bass of the year. I hope these easy spring fishing rigs help you do just that.

See how it all went down in the video below!
