In the first video this week: This is the battle of the budget baitcasters! Is bass fishing with a $10 baitcaster going to be fun? Worth It? Lets find out. I am starting out with the HD200 that I bought on the internet for $10.34. It looks like a typical baitcaster complete with magnetic brakes. Then I show how to set up a baitcaster for bass fishing. After using it for a few minutes I noticed a few things right away. It actually casts quite well. I was able to launch the lure out there, as well as pitch it a good distance. The retrieve however, is where we run into major problems.

Early Spring Fishing from the Bank – Fishing a Flooded Lake & Creek

Early Spring Fishing from the Bank Fishing a Flooded Lake Creek - Realistic Fishing

In the first video this week: As an angler, I’ve been taking advantage of the early spring weather to do some fishing from the bank. I’ve been exploring a few different spots along the flooded lake and creek, hoping to find some good catches. Unfortunately, my first spot got rained out, so I had to switch things up.

Thankfully I had some luck at Skeletor Park where I was able to reel in a nice skipjack using a jerkbait. After that, I decided to check out a flooded creek and opted to use a simple worm and float rig. My efforts paid off as I was able to catch a couple of decent-sized bluegills, as well as a few smaller fish.

When Do the Bluegill Come Back to Shallow Water? Early Spring Fishing

When Do the Bluegill Come Back to Shallow Water Early Spring Fishing - Realistic Fishing

In the first video this week: Do you know when the bluegill usually return to shallow waters? It can be pretty frustrating to fish early in the spring because although the water temperature is rising, there aren’t many fish around. In this episode, I scouted three different areas before finally landing my first bluegill. Once I found them, I caught several more in the same spot. To increase my chances, I’m using a simple fishing rig with just a float and worm. I’m targeting shallow water at usually three feet or less, as it warms up faster than deeper waters. This makes it an attractive spot for fish who are looking for food.
