Today I catch the first bass of the year. This is Realistic Fishing from the bank for 2024. I start out fishing with a small jerkbait. The Salmo Minnow not only catches the first bass of the year, but it also catches a big skipjack on the very next cast. After that action slows down, I switch two a Gulp Minnow, and catch a few more panfish. Things are changing, and spring is on its way. The fishing can only get better from here out, right? Can I catch a fish today? This is what winter fishing from shore is like right now. The first spot I try is The Log, and despite my best efforts, I can't even catch one fish. So after about 15 minutes of failure, I decide to try somewhere else. And, I am glad I did. Right away I start getting bites, and catching fish. I easily catch a bunch of bluegill. I would rather leave and catch something, rather than stay and catch nothing. So a ZERO fish day turned into a 6 fish day. Fishing with a float rig is a quick way to check for bluegill in any area. I am going fishing today, so you don't have to! Its winter, and that means fishing from shore can be difficult. I start out fishing a jerkbait in hopes of fishing an early bass or skipjack. I still thinks its a bit early for a hard bait, because I didn't get any bites. I switch to a float rig in an effort to catch anything at all. I don't catch anything at the first fishing hole, so I move on to another. I fianlly get a few bites and catch a couple of bluegill. The winter fishing has been difficult. Time for more winter bank fishing in February. Can I, Realistic Fishing, catch any fish today? Its a mild winter day, but the temps at night are still below freezing. This means the water isn't really warming up yet. I start out fishing on the bottom with a worm, but I don't catch anything. After switching to a float rig, I catch the first fish of the day. Then another, and another. I finally figure out a pattern, fishing with a float about 4-5 ft deep. The largest fish today was a 6 inch bluegill. Today we are looking at bass fishing lures from Temu. These budget fishing lures were priced under $2.00. Since its so cold outside, I figured I would have more fun unboxing cheap lures. I purchased a few different kinds of soft plastic frogs. I also purchased some crankbaits, hooks, and even soft plastics. Today I attempt some late winter fishing, and this is the third try for the Lucky Texas Rig Fishing Kit Giveaway. The fishing at the log and the boat ramp is very very slow. Once again we are doing some winter fishing from the bank. Except this time, the big panfish are coming back. I say that because I caught a 9 inch shellcracker! I start out fishing at the log and get a couple of sunfish and a bluegill. Then I concentrate on fishing the boat ramp area and the bite really picks up. I catch a few nice red ear sunfish and a couple of bluegill. And like I said, I catch a big 9 inch shellcracker! Winter fishing from the bank can be rewarding of you you to fish on the cold.
