More NEW Fishing Gear Available at OLLIES!
I just stumbled across a bunch of new fishing gear at Ollies, and some of it is too good to pass up. In today’s video, I didn’t catch anything on the water, but I took the opportunity to showcase some killer deals I found in-store.
Here’s what I grabbed:
- PowerBait Max Scent – over 50% off
- Swimbaits – high-quality, low-cost options for spring bass
- Other affordable tackle perfect for stocking up
Ollies has been adding a lot of new inventory, and right now is a great time to check your local store for bargains. Even if the fishing isn’t cooperating, you can still score some awesome gear for your spring tackle box.

The ICE is Finally GONE! Let’s Go Fishing
The ice is finally out of the way, and that opens up so many more spots for bank fishing. Previously, I was stuck at the boat ramp since that was the only ice-free section, but now the whole lake is open.
I kept it simple with an ultralight rig:
- Weighted float
- Small jig
- Worm
With this setup, I managed to catch roughly twice as many fish as my last trip—still modest, but progress! It feels good to finally have open water and warmer temperatures. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for the bigger fish to start showing up.

New Fishing Gear Available at OLLIE’S – Bass Lures For Next Spring
When fishing isn’t producing, I turn to the next best thing—new tackle. Ollies had some fresh inventory for next spring, and I picked up a mix of bass lures that I couldn’t pass up.
Here’s what’s in the haul:
- Big Bite Baits soft plastics
- Bass fishing jigs and spinners
- Other affordable gear for spring prep
I love unboxing and trying new lures, but catching fish is always the goal. With trout stocking programs in Tennessee being a disaster lately, I figured it’s a perfect time to scout some deals and get gear ready for the next season.

I Don’t Like Making Videos Like THIS – Too Realistic Fishing
Sometimes fishing is brutal, and winter bank fishing proves it. In today’s video, I tried two different spots for over an hour and only managed to catch one tiny three-inch bluegill. That’s it—brutally realistic.
This is the side of fishing nobody really shows:
- Slow winter conditions
- Partially frozen water
- Lots of patience with almost no reward
It might be frustrating, but it’s exactly what Realistic Fishing is all about—showing the real ups and downs of being out there.

If You See Water Like THIS in Winter – FISH IT!
Winter fishing isn’t hopeless if you know where to look. In this video, I found water that stood out because it wasn’t frozen like the rest of the lake. Slightly warmer water like this can hold active fish, even in the coldest months.
Key takeaways for winter anglers:
- Look for open water spots surrounded by frozen areas
- Slightly warmer water encourages feeding activity
- You can catch panfish like bluegill even when most spots are dead
I managed to land a handful of bluegill, including a nice one, just by targeting water that looked different than the rest. It’s all about observation and knowing where to focus your efforts in winter.
