Fishing In SCUM – Can I Catch Fish in Disgusting Lake Water?

In the first episode this week: Today I am fishing in Scum! Can I catch fish in disgusting lake water? There is a large build up of brown scum on top of the lake today. The cove I am fishing is covered in a thick layer of something that looks toxic. Amazingly, the fish seem to be hiding under the edge of this gunk because that is where I am catching them. I try for a while down by the log where there is less scum, but I don’t get many bites. After moving to the hot, scummy, cove, I start to catch some nice bluegill.

I assume the hot weather is killing off the algae and thats why it looks so gross, but I am not exactly sure. Maybe try fishing near some disgusting scum, you just might catch fish.

See how it all went down in the video below!

Night Fishing For JUMBO Bluegill – Fishing in a Heat Wave!

In the final episode this week: Today we are doing some night fishing for jumbo bluegill. Fishing in a heat wave can be difficult, and that’s why I go at night! After the sun goes down, the high temperatures become more tolerable. I am fishing with a simple float rig and a jig head. The bait of choice is a 1 inch gulp minnow, and this is how I like to do it. I start out walking the bank, and end up fishing off the dock. I catch a handful of nice bluegill with a few jumbos mixed in. If you are having a hard time fishing in this heat, maybe try fishing for bluegill at night. I hope these tips help.
