Wanting to change things up, I open some new lure from Diesel Baits. I start off fishing a hellgrammite but I don't catch anything but mermaid hair. After switching to the 4 inch worm, I finally get some action! I catch a beautiful two pound bass! I catch it in the same place I just fished the hellgrammite. Lets get back to some bluegill fishing basics. Today I'm bank fishing for jumbo bluegill, which I like to call Bullgill. The trip starts off a bit slow catching some smaller four to five inch bluegill. But after going back to fish an area I previously fished, I started catching some big bluegill. These jumbo bluegill measure between nine and ten inches! I am catching them on a simple float rig with a Gulp Alive Minnow. This is probably my all time favorite panfish lure. This SixGill Wraith Baitcaster had a secret feature! While bass fishing with this baitcaster in the last episode, I grew dissatisfied with the distance. It turns out I was missing something! This baitcast reel has TWO breaking systems. After doing some research about the reel, I discovered it has a hidden area under the side plate. Located inside is a centrifugal breaking system that adds a whole new level of spool control. After adjusting these secret brakes, I was able to get the reel under control. My casting is much much better. I even catch a few nice largemouth bass. Today I am bass fishing with a baitcaster that was sent to the show! I am test driving a SixGill Wraith using a Texas rigged creature bait. I spool the reel with 12 lb test mono, and start fishing. I get a bite early on, but miss the fish because I didn't check my drag. After dialing the reel in a bit better, I get back to it. Shortly after, I catch my first largemouth bass of the day. About ten minutes later, I catch another bass. This baitcast reel has a few issues, but I don't know its past. I don't think its the right for me, but it did catch fish. Remember the Havoc Pit Boss? Today I'm fishing doing some late spring bass fishing with a Texas rig and an old favorite, the Pit Boss. At the first location, I notice the water is still stained brown, from recent rain storms. After fan casting open water for a while, without any luck, I focus on fishing the downed trees. This is where I catch my first bass of the day. I catch a 0.5 pound largemouth bass swimming my pit boss near some lay downs. After not getting any more bites, I try another location, and another. I don't manage any more fish, but I do learn that a giant tree has fallen at one of my spots, The Log! These are the best bass fishing lure deals at Ollie's right now! I recently visited 2 Ollies stores looking for deals on lures. I actually found some! These NetBait lures were $1.99 per pack! The deal was so good I wanted a good variety, and ended up going to 2 locations. Since the fishing isn't very good right now, what better way to pass the time than buying more lures? There is flooding in Tennessee right now! Today I am fishing at flooded lakes after the bad storms. All of todays locations are flooded, but that won't stop me from trying. After showing the flooding at the first spot, I decide to give it a try at the second park. After not catching anything on a Texas rig, I switch to a jerkbait and catch a worm! Yes a WORM! I then move to another small lake and it is also badly flooded. I get a few bites on a Texas rigged crawfish. Then after adding the Pro Cure, I finally land a largemouth bass! Today we're doing some more bass fishing using both Strike King and YUM lures! They'll be rigged both Texas and Wacky. Its a warm rainy day and I start out by fishing with the Strike King Shim E Stick (worm), on a Texas Rig. I catch a largemouth bass on the first cast! After a while with no catches, I switch to the wacky rig. Unfortunately I don't catch anything on it. On my final attempt to catch another bass, I tie on a YUM Spine Craw. I am able to catch one more bass near some downed trees. I haven't been fishing here for a long time! Today I am catching bass at 2 different Tennessee Parks. The parks I am fishing are open to the public and also have boat ramps. I haven't been to the first location in a while and I'm surprised how shallow the water is. I still manage to catch two largemouth bass on a Baby Brush Hog. After moving to another public area, I start fishing a small jerkbait, and catch two more fish. This time a Long Ear Sunfish, and another bass. Today I'll be fishing with a Beetle Spin spinnerbait! Can I catch a bass on this old time favorite? This Beetle Spin was sent to the show by a generous subscriber and I unbox it at the lake. First I try a Googan Baits crankbait without any success. But after switching to the Beetle SPin, I actually start catching fish. I catch a nice Longear Sunfish, a Green Sunfish, and even a few largemouth bass! Make that 4 largemouth bass! The largest fish today comes in around .5 pounds but its a nice catch on the small beetle spin lure. If you have a Johnson Beetle Spin laying around, don't forget to go fishing with it and maybe catch a bass like Realistic Fishing.
