Time for more winter bank fishing in February. Can I, Realistic Fishing, catch any fish today? Its a mild winter day, but the temps at night are still below freezing. This means the water isn't really warming up yet. I start out fishing on the bottom with a worm, but I don't catch anything. After switching to a float rig, I catch the first fish of the day. Then another, and another. I finally figure out a pattern, fishing with a float about 4-5 ft deep. The largest fish today was a 6 inch bluegill. Today we are looking at bass fishing lures from Temu. These budget fishing lures were priced under $2.00. Since its so cold outside, I figured I would have more fun unboxing cheap lures. I purchased a few different kinds of soft plastic frogs. I also purchased some crankbaits, hooks, and even soft plastics. Today I attempt some late winter fishing, and this is the third try for the Lucky Texas Rig Fishing Kit Giveaway. The fishing at the log and the boat ramp is very very slow. Once again we are doing some winter fishing from the bank. Except this time, the big panfish are coming back. I say that because I caught a 9 inch shellcracker! I start out fishing at the log and get a couple of sunfish and a bluegill. Then I concentrate on fishing the boat ramp area and the bite really picks up. I catch a few nice red ear sunfish and a couple of bluegill. And like I said, I catch a big 9 inch shellcracker! Winter fishing from the bank can be rewarding of you you to fish on the cold. Today we try some winter bank fishing with worms. Can I catch a fish right now? The answer is yes! I am out fishing from the bank on a breezy winter day. I am fishing with red worms under a float. The fishing starts off a little slowly, but the fish show up after a while. I catch various sizes of blue bluegill but nothing giant. I also catch a golden colored shellcracker. The weather is a bit warmer, but the fishing hasn't turned on yet. Today we're doing some winter fishing for deals! Walmart fishing lures are on clearance right now! I went to Walmart and took a look around the fishing section. And by golly, there were lures on clearance! I spent $20 on fishing tackle today and this is what I got. I purchased some soft plastics for Texas Rigs including Ozark Trail, Yamamoto, and Creme. I also picked up a topwater popper, some spinner worms, and even some swimbait jig heads. The fishing lures sales have been in a slump for a while, but I am seeing more of them now. This is winter fishing right now. Can I catch a fish from the bank today? I visit two different locations today as I search for winter fish. The first place I tried to catch a fish is the log. Unfortunately there are no fish at the log right now. However, by fishing at two different boat ramps I made up for it. Using red worms, and a simple float rig, I am able to catch a nice red ear sunfish (shellcracker) and a few bluegill. The fishing is far from easy, but Yes! Yes, you can catch fish right now.
