This is my first time going trout fishing in a long time, and now I remember why. If you aren’t there the day the truck arrives, it might be slow going for you after that. I saw two guys on the trail who caught a couple, but I struck out. I even went to a different location to fish with nightcrawlers, I couldn’t even get a bite. I am experiencing the worst winter fishing so you don’t have to. By the end of this video I have never been happier to catch a fish! Winter bank fishing this year has been horrible, and the fishing conditions are anything but cooperative. I start out fishing deeper water at the log with a simple float rig and minnow, but I can’t even get a bite. After moving to a new location i try for another thirty minutes and I finally catch something! The only catch in a week is a shellcracker, or red ear sunfish. I tried fishing with live minnows and this is what happened. I found my trusty minnow bucket, got a couple dozen minnows, and headed to the lake. Got the minnow on the hook and I casted it out, and waited, and waited, and waited. I couldn’t even get a single bite on the live minnows! NOT ONE! So I headed to the store (Ollie’s) hoping to find some fishing gear on the cheap. I got a bag full of stuff, at decent prices, and show it off in the video. It’s TOO COLD To Go Fishing But I Just Had To Try ANYWAY!
It’s too cold to go fishing but I just had to try anyway. I can’t give up just because everyone else stopped fishing. In this video I am at the log again, and I am trying my luck with an ultralight float rig. I catch a handful of bluegill but no crappie. I try removing the float and fish with just the jig in hopes of catching a crappie but no dice. I might be freezing cold outside but the show must go on. Cold weather fishing tip: You can’t stop fishing just because it’s uncomfortable. I am happy to be catching anything, including bluegill, in winter (December). #fishing #video
