Bass Fishing With a NEW SWIMBAIT! My First Bass On a NEW LURE
Today I’m bass fishing with a new swimbait! This is the first bass I’ve caught on this lure. After fishing with a jerkbait for a while at two different locations with no bites, I decide to switch it up to a new hard jointed swimbait I just purchased. Its interlocking sections create a unique swimming action, and a big largemouth bass couldn’t resist as it swam by. I caught my biggest bass of the year so far on this one. Have you fished with a jointed swimbait like this?
I wasn’t getting anywhere with that jerkbait—two spots, nothing to show for it. Then I tied on the new swimbait, and it didn’t take long to change things up. That segmented action in the water caught the bass’s eye, especially with spring starting to warm things up. It’s not about fancy gear—just something different that worked this time. I’ll be taking it out again to see if it’s consistent. What’s your take on swimbaits for early season?

MORE FISHING LURES To Try for Bass Fishing This Spring! SCORE!
Today I am unboxing more fishing lures to try for bass fishing this spring! I found some great sales on fishing gear at Academy Sports and Outdoors. These are last year’s models marked down again, so they’re priced low. I picked up a Z-Man chatterbait, some 6th Sense swimbaits, a few Rapala jerkbaits, and even a Daiwa fishing rod on sale. Everything I got today cost less than fifty dollars. Hope you’re finding some budget lures for spring bass fishing too.
This stuff’s plenty good for early season from the bank. The chatterbait puts out a solid vibration, the swimbaits move like real baitfish, and the jerkbaits hold up in cooler water. That Daiwa rod’s a bonus at this price—nothing high-end, just practical. These clearance items aren’t brand new releases, but they’ll still get bass in 2025. Academy Sports had a solid selection this time—worth a look if you’re nearby. What’s the best deal you’ve found lately?
What I Picked Up:
- Z-Man Chatterbait: Strong buzz on a budget.
- 6th Sense Swimbaits: Still effective swimmers.
- Rapala Jerkbaits: Low cost, ready to fish.

Bass Fishing with a Beetle Spin! (Early Spring Bass Fishing Lures)
Today I’m doing some bass fishing with a beetle spin in early spring! The lures I’m using today might help you catch your first bass this year. I modified my beetle spin by removing the grub and replacing it with a soft plastic minnow—that’s how I caught my first bass of the year. After that, I tried a lipless crankbait with the front hook removed, leaving just one treble to act like a spoon. Caught a shad with it, rigged it up, and landed a larger bass. Spring bass fishing is heating up—maybe give a beetle spin a try.
That tweak to the beetle spin paid off quick—the soft plastic minnow got a bass right away. Then messing with the lipless crankbait turned into a win when I hooked that shad and used it to catch a bigger one. Early spring’s a good time to test out little changes like this from the bank—no need for anything expensive. It’s just fishing, and it’s working as the season starts. Have you tried modifying your beetle spins yet?
Early Spring Tips:
- Replace the beetle spin grub with a soft plastic minnow.
- Pull the front hook off a lipless crankbait for a spoon effect.
- Rig up a shad if you catch one—bass go for it.
